In Nigeria, and in most African countries, where literary magazines are rare, The Weekender Republic (TWR) magazine came fully prepared to entertain literary and art lovers with weekly print and online fiction, nonfiction, artwork, poetry, interview, profile, and commentary pieces.
As an Afrocentric magazine, our mission is to explore the complexity and the diversity of African life and people from an unexpected perspective to create a profound understanding of the continent’s experience.
We are pleased to inform our future writers, readers, advertisers, partners and supporters that we will soon be accepting submissions in all genres of the magazine, and writers anywhere in the world can submit their stories to us without any submission charges. Submissions are made through our submission page.
Also, we are pleased to inform you that in a few months, we will be publishing the best of African literary contents. You can obtain our print publication from the nearest vendors to you or our E-magazine through our website.
As a weekly publication that organises literary programmes, such as book reading club, talent show, literary prize, and symposium, some of the ways we will sustain our work are through advertisements, subscriptions and donations. Please, check our advert, subscription and donation pages for more information.
We also publish The Weekender Republic (TWR) blog, a weekly print and online literary/entertainment blog that will soon be publishing news stories, news features on books and reviews, music and movies, arts and culture, tech and media, and personal stories from women and Africans in the diaspora.
For more information about our magazine and programmes, you can visit our FAQ and contact pages. You can also connect with us on our social media platforms and sign-up for our newsletter through which we disseminate information about our publications and programmes.
